Volunteer Opportunities

Part of what makes Ste. Genevieve du Bois School such a great place is our incredible community of involved parents. These committed volunteers provide so much support to our wonderful faculty, freeing them up to focus on providing a stellar education for our children. And as a parent volunteer, the rewards are so great, not just for the school, but also personally as you get the opportunity to participate in your child’s school experience. Volunteer opportunities range from class-specific duties such as Head Room Parent, Party Parent, Class Treasurer, Liturgy Coach and more. Plus, there are always volunteer spots for the class parties for Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day. You can run a game, contribute a snack or be a party helper. There are so many ways to help! Schoolwide volunteer opportunities range from helping at the Book Fair or Grandparents’ Day, working in the Library, manning the playground at Tailgate and many more. And you never want to miss an opportunity to chaperone on a class field trip, read to your child’s class or watch the class during the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. Now that’s fun stuff!
Most sign-ups to volunteer in the school take place at Back to School Night in September. To see a current list of volunteer opportunities, parents please login to FastDirect. As part of the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program, we require that all parent volunteers and faculty must complete the “Protecting God’s Children™” seminar, sign The Code of Ethical Conduct and consent to periodic, state background checks through the Family Care Registry. Adults will not be allowed to volunteer or work on our campus or on our field trips without first completing all steps. We strongly believe these measures are of the utmost importance to safeguard our children at all times. For more information on the Safe Environment Program, please visit the St. Louis Archdiocese Website. You can also find session dates for “Protecting God’s Children™” there. If you are a first-time volunteer, please call 314.821.4245 or stop by the school office for the necessary forms.

Fundraising Events

A chance to celebrate with friends and also raise money for our great school, these FUNdraising events always bring our community closer together. PTO has offered such entertaining affairs as Trivia Night, Breakfast with Santa, Mice Races, Maifest and more.

More than just Campbell’s Soup labels, these labels are mmmm, mmmmm, good for raising money and can be found on products ranging from popcorn to juice to baggies. For a complete list, visit the Box Tops for Education® website. But what might really get you clipping is the monthly class contest. The class that collects the most Box Tops/Labels earns a much-coveted Out-of-Uniform Day!

Ste. Gen. Gives Back

As we ask for gifts of your time, talent and treasure, we also stress to our Ste. Gen. students the importance of giving to others. Our children donate their time through various charitable acts such as sorting food at the Foodbank, reading to children at Carmelite, singing for the residents of St. Agnes, assisting their little buddies and more. As a school community, we include the students in donation drives for agencies such as St. Liborius Food Pantry, Nurses for Newborns and the Little Bit Foundation. Our children raise funds and participate in Dance for Diabetes benefiting the American Diabetes Association. They also raise money and participate in Jump Rope/Hoops for Hearts benefiting the American Heart Association.
